Chancellors I-LEARN

 Beginning in February 2020, there will be a slight change to the timetable and the structure of the MCI school day.  Students will be organized into I-LEARN Groups from 9:57 – 10:27.  I-LEARN is a proactive and preventative intervention strategy used to provide extra time, support, and instruction to those students that need it.  It is also a time for enrichment, or to work on assignments, Independent Study courses, scholarship applications, organization, prepare for tests, read, etc.  The goals of I-LEARN are to achieve a high level of engagement, to provide individual and small group support, and to focus on student learning and needs.  I-LEARN is uninterrupted time in which there is no music or devices permitted (unless a device is required to complete an assignment).

Teachers will request students to work in small groups with them on a concept, and students may request teachers to get additional support.  The priority will be ELA and Math classes; however, students who are not requested to be with their Math or ELA teacher may be requested by another teacher.  All students not requested to see a teacher are required to report to their assigned I-LEARN group with work to complete.  Students with no work to complete are required to spend their time reading.   

One Wednesday every month we will have Wellness Wednesdays which will focus on topics of physical and mental wellness.  The wellness team will organize activities and presentations for the student body. 

All students learn in different ways.  This time will help promote opportunities for students to take advantage of what they need.
